For our more independent students eager to explore London, we offer a split program featuring one week in Bournemouth and one week in London, both schools accredited by the British Council. Participants will attend a summer school program at Greenwich University and stay on-site in the university residence. This program is available for students aged 16 to 17. Our international summer school strives to offer the best of teaching and cultural experience to all our international students.
Accredited by the British Council, the Oxford Junior Summer School offers an unforgettable experience for students from around the world, combining exceptional English language instruction with engaging recreational activities in a distinctive setting.
Now in its seventeenth year, each summer, the school accommodates approximately 600 students from various countries. Our primary objective is to enhance each student’s confidence in English, equip them with practical skills, foster friendships, and provide an immersive experience of British culture.
One of the most popular seaside resort towns in England, with seven glorious miles of idyllic coastline, you’re sure to find a variety of amazing things to do and see in this beautiful coastal town. Bournemouth has one of the largest concentrations of international colleges and language centres in the UK. Add to that the University and the largest Chiropractic College in Europe and you get a truly cosmopolitan town for students and tourists to enjoy all year around.
The core of Bournemouth is notable for its array of excellent shops and restaurants and the town is steeped in history and Victorian architecture. Several well-known figures are buried in St Peter’s church, including Mary Shelley, author of the novel Frankenstein.
There are all the facilities you would expect in a modern seaside resort, plus activities such as the Bournemouth Oceanarium, and the Bournemouth Eye, providing amazing aerial views over the town. Perhaps the most popular visitor attraction is Bournemouth Pier, built in 1880. The Pier was initially simply a place for boats to dock but evolved to include amusements and games, like the popular coastal piers at Blackpool and Brighton.
Bournemouth still draws large numbers of students each year. Some are drawn by the town’s reputation as a centre for the nightlife and the arts, with popular film and theatre centres, and others are drawn by the fresh sea air and sandy beaches. From beach bike rides to surfing and paddleboarding, Bournemouth offer international students a host of fun activities along its beautiful beaches.
